From Stagecoach to Coachella, festival season is upon us! Once you have your tickets to your favorite outdoor music festivals for the spring and summer seasons, the fun really begins. Finding the perfect rave-worthy outfits that look great on Instagram and keep you comfortable and able to move to the music is a super fun and exciting task.

This year, the music festival fashion scene has moved on from the flower crowns and fringe-laden pieces from years past to more street-style savvy. Think a little less boho and a little more party girl. No matter what your budget looks like, you can be on-trend and feel dressed to kill this year with some basic trends in mind.

Bangin’ Bodysuits

A fabulous foundation piece for your warm-weather ready festival ensemble is a flattering and eye-catching bodysuit. Festival fashion is all about showing off your unique style in a fun way and with bodysuits coming in a variety of styles, necklines, textures and colors, they’re the perfect way to start off your outfit.

A band t-shirt of eras past being rethought as an ultra-flattering statement bodysuit is an edgy way to give off major rebel vibes at a music festival. Accessorize with a statement choker, a floppy hat and some killer shades to complete your rage-ready look. Pairing a bodysuit with a daring v-neck style and a pair of distressed jean shorts or a jean skirt is the perfect mix of club-ready kid and casual outdoor vibes. For a more girly and attention-grabbing look, choose a neon-colored bodysuit as the foundation of your outfit.

Sleek Sunnies

No festival ensemble is complete without the perfect pair of sunglasses.

Pro Tip: opt for affordable sunglasses (still just as stylish!), because let’s be honest, you’ll be lucky if you can find them at the end of a three-day festival. Finding the perfect pair means choosing sunnies that frame your face perfectly while giving off those laid-back festival vibes.

Non-Traditional Statement Earrings

Accessorizing for a music festival is a must and you really can’t go wrong with adding bangles, long necklaces and of course, statement earrings to your ensemble.

This year, it’s all about fabulous leather earrings that add an unexpected texture and unique feel to your festival look. This fun trend builds upon the leather headpieces and other accessories that have been popular at festivals in years past in a new and interesting way.

Leather earrings are surprisingly lightweight and easy to weather. Plus, they look stunning paired with more traditional jewelry and attire. They are also extremely versatile and range from traditional brown teardrop-shaped earrings to bold colorful earrings and fun-patterned accessories.

Throw Some Glitter On It

There’s nothing princess-like about modern day sparkly outfits — in fact, they give off a more rebellious, moody vibe that you’re sure to turn heads in.

For an unexpected festival look that’s totally different than what’s been all the rage in years past, turn to a club-appropriate sparkly mini dress that shoes off your killer figure and pairs with oversized accessories and an unexpected shoe like a combat boot. For a more understated take on this trend, choose a dress with some subtle sheen instead of all-out glitter bomb. The contrast of these seemingly high maintenance dresses can be played up further with a cropped denim or leather jacket and a pair of colorful fishnets. Forgo the hippy dippy braided hairdos of years past in favor of a teased curly hair look or a sleek high pony.

Boot Up

Boots are a staple piece of footwear for music festivals and given the often unpredictable weather and conditions of the ground that thousands will be trudging through to see the next act, they’re a practical choice, too. With the right eye, it’s easy to find trendy boots that complement your look perfectly or ones that make a big statement.

Boots with a unique texture or pattern are ideal for the music festival scene, so search for studs and interesting effects on your footwear. A chunky heel is always a fabulous choice, as it’ll make walking easier (and way more comfortable) than a stiletto heel on the outdoor terrain. A holographic boot paired with distressed denim jean shorts, tattered fishnet stockings and some killer accessories will make a totally unexpected and fashion forward look. Go for some classic thigh-high boots for another fun and flattering silhouette.

Express Yourself!

If festival fashion is about an exaggerated, whimsical look that you might not dare to wear during your everyday life, go all in when it comes to the makeup and eyewear. One of the easiest ways to amp up your look is to go for a fun, colorful pair of shades. Yellows, blues, pinks and even rainbow-tinted lenses are a mod addition and photograph exceptionally well. Uniquely-shaped sunnies that have metal bars, a rimless appeal and exaggerated cat-eye shapes, for example, are also a fabulous statement look that will be right at home in a festival atmosphere.

Take Inspo from Coachella Celebrity Best Festival Looks

Whether you made your way to Indio, CA for some fun in the sun and a couple weekends of rocking out to jams by Blur, Gorillaz, Jurassic 5, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as well as EDM artists like Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris, or you simply watched the ample coverage in the news and via social media outlets, you’re probably aware that the place was lousy with celebrities, not to mention the horde of paparazzi tailing them like hounds on the hunt.

While some, like Kristen Stewart  sported grungy tees, sneakers, shades, and signature looks of pure indifference, others turned out for the event with a little more glamor and grace. Here are just a few of the best-dressed celebs and the steal-worthy styles they flashed at Coachella.

Solange Knowles: Edgy & Feminine

The little sis of Sasha fierce is becoming a perennial fave of fashionistas everywhere, and a true icon in her own right, thanks to a personal style that is edgy, feminine, and 100% her.

She was caught on camera at the event sporting her usual halo of curls and wearing a blousy, white top featuring spaghetti straps and a deep V. She paired this neutral garment with an eye-catching floral skirt in a day-glo pink. Chunky-heeled sandals polished off the look for a summery ensemble befitting a stylish celeb. She was also spotted wearing a lemon-print mini dress paired with floral-patterned wedge heels.

AnnaSophia Robb: Inner Flower Child

She may be best known for her angelic looks and a turn as the teenage Carrie Bradshaw in ‘The Carrie Diaries’, but this PYT let her inner flower child reign supreme when she attended Coachella. The Desert Pool Party found her wearing a timely, sleeveless summer dress featuring horizontal stripes in white, yellow, orange, taupe, and blue. But it was her accessories that gave the outfit its flirty and youthful edge, including blinged-out sunglasses, a crown of flowers, and an armful of colorful hair ties for bracelets.

Paris Hilton: Colorful Hippy Chic

When you see celebrities at a music festival you want them to exhibit a little creativity in the wardrobe department. Hilton (who outshone sister Nicky by a long shot) delivered with a multi-colored, print maxi dress nipped in at the waist with a chunky belt. A metallic collar necklace accented the outfit perfectly.  Unfortunately, added accessories like a hot-pink shoulder bag, a sunflower headband, and oversized sunglasses sent her hippy-chic look over the edge. In fact, all of her looks for the festival mirrored this trend. The dress? Yes! But forget the rest.

Jessica Alba: Polished Casual

Even when she’s super casual, this Hollywood starlet manages to look perfect and polished. She dressed up a simple, loose, white Henley tank and some black skinny jeans with black gladiator sandals, silver jewelry, and a pair of wayfarers for day, and then threw on a black cardigan, skirt, and boots and paired them with a colorful, east-Indian-style bag for evening.

Alessandra Ambrosio: Supermodel Boho Luxury

It’s not much of a stretch for a super model to look good, but Ambrosio’s style didn’t skip a beat, despite a few days in the desert. One day saw her sporting a white crop-top, salmon-hued short-shorts, a printed head scarf, and arms full of bangles, while another outfit consisted of lacy, denim cutoffs, a crocheted, boho shirt, a floppy hat, and her best accessory: daughter Anja. That’s one part of the outfit you won’t find when shopping for women’s clothing online!
