Having a killer festival makeup look is almost as important as the set list itself. And with the festival season coming up soon well and truly upon us, it’s essential to stay up to date with the latest makeup looks hitting the festival scene.
1. Start with A Clean Face
It’s important to note that the freshest makeup looks start with clean skin and a good base. Be sure to cleanse the skin well before creating your look. Use a non-foaming facial cleanser to begin, and always moisturize with a hydrating formula to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier for your skin.
Once your moisturizer has begun to absorb into your skin, you can start prepping your base for the makeup look of your choosing. When you’re at a festival all day and night long, you want to make sure that your makeup will stay looking fresh on your skin for a long time. To achieve this, us a mattifying primer to prep the skin for what will most likely be a sweaty day, and apply a long wear foundation, to attain that “just applied” look all day long.
2. Bold Ombre Eyeshadow
One look that we’ve already been seeing is the ombre eyelid, particularly in bright, contrasting and bold colors. By blending intense and colorful shades on your eyelids, you will create a unique and captivating festival look, that’s sure to turn heads. To get the most out of this look, be sure to use an eyeshadow primer and apply a light colored base shade to really make the colors pop!
3. Ultra Sheen Lip Gloss
There are so many stunning and unique lipstick finishes available these days, but nothing says high society more than an ultra sheen lip look. To achieve this look, apply a bold base lip tint and then top it off with an ultra high shine lip gloss. This technique is simply beautiful, so easy to perfect, and leaves you with a classy, yet dramatic look for those last minute festival days.
4. Jewelled Eyebrows and Face
There’s no need to stress about perfecting your arches with this festival look – jewelled eyebrows! Ditch your pot and stick and head to your local beauty store to pick up some groovy, colored stick on jems. We’ve been seeing a lot of tear drop shapes to match the movement of your eyebrows, but get experimental and try out different styles and looks to suit your festival vibe.
5. Metallic Liner
Sometimes, less is more, and all you need is one standout feature to make your look iconic. There have been some truly eye-catching metallics getting around the festival of late, but the most striking is for sure the metallic eyeliner. By creating a natural look and then adding an intense, metallic strip across the eye lines, you can take your look from drab to glam in an instant.
6. Bold Glitter Lip
There is nothing more striking than a bold lip. Something about the daring of a bright color or even a contrasting lip texture, just screams confidence and attracts the curious. When applying a bold lip, the secret is to use an intense lip liner or lip crayon. This will prevent bleeding of the lip color into your skin and create a powerful outline for your bold lip to sit within.
7. Creative Cheek Highlights
Everyone knows a good highlighter is their best friend, but lately we’ve been seeing our old faithfuls used in ways we didn’t even know were possible. With the use of stencils, you can create an incredible texture along your cheek bones, such as mermaid patterns, waved lines or strict block shapes for an intriguing look. Experimenting with colors is another way that you can lift your highlighter game. You can purchase rainbow highlighter palettes to play around with new and unique festival looks.
Always remember that festival makeup is a chance to go crazy with absolutely no judgement! So dive into all the color, textures and glitter you wish that you could wear every day and express yourself this festival season with these incredible makeup looks.
